Anyways, it’s good to be back on track again.

Here’s a bunch of logos I created for my portfolio site. I just can’t decide which one is the best.

Vote here if you want. But who knows if I’ll use it in the end…

I’m not completely satisfied with this design. We’ll see.

Ok. These invitation suites are obviously not for myself. I designed these because I was inspired by some wedding invitations that I saw the other day. I also have been thinking, perhaps this is a market that I can look into if I can design my own announcement suites.

Therefore, voilà! These are the first two designs I’ve come up with so far. I still have lots of ideas in mind. Hopefully I can show them soon!

I have read about enormouschampion and seen their work in Print and Uppercase magazines. Never thought that I would be able to own one of their original artwork!

The print I got is a limited edition, letterpress print. It is one of the most beautiful letterpress I’ve ever seen! So many wonderful little ornaments are sitting perfectly in that big, bold type saying “ALL GOOD THINGS.” They’re indeed all good things! Along with the print, I also received a letterpress card as a gift! And I love how they treat you as an individual customer with a hand-written note. The note card is also letterpress!

Hopefully I can find a nice frame soon to hang the print on my wall :)

I’ve been noticing this set of ceramics for a long, long time. I can’t keep my eyes of it whenever I go to Starbucks. I knew it will finally go on sale someday, so I didn’t buy it, until yesterday.
It wasn’t a crazy sale, only 2-dollar difference, but I’m so happy that I can finally own these colourful cups. Using them to drink tea, or have some granola yogurt parfait is such a delight!

I think they can be used in other purposes as well, like candle holder, container for jewelry, or vase. What do you think?

I was going to use my recently designed pattern to print some cards, but I accidentally set the paper orientation in the wrong direction, ending up with the design cropped.

Oh well, I thought, at least I could make it into a smaller, square card. But it just doesn’t look that nice anymore…

And then, I remember seeing some collages of patterns and photographs somewhere. Maybe I could try that too! So I found a photograph I took in Paris 2 years ago, did some photoshopping and printed it on top of the pattern, intentionally in the same way that I printed the pattern.

And…voilà! Just like when I first saw the photos developed from my toy cameras, I was quite surprised that the result turned out to be great! I absolutely love this kind of “accidental beauty!”

Next time I gotta make this bigger and hang it on my wall :D

This pattern is my first trial of making a pattern in Illustrator. It turned out to be not too bad! Hopefully I can come up with a series, or something I can sell on Spoonflower or Bon Bon Kakku.

I received my Uppercase magazine this morning in mail, and I found that my work has been selected!!

Few months ago, Uppercase magazine had a call-for-submissions for “candy wrapper redesign.” I thought it could be fun, so I actually bought a box of chocolate Pocky and scan them. Yes, SCAN. Literally. And gave the package a new look.

I kinda thought the design was okay back then, but it still got published! I was so thrilled when I saw my name and work in the magazine :D

Urban legend says that carrots help with night vision. Though not completely true. Lack of Vitamin A can cause poor vision. Have you ever seen a bunny wearing glasses?

Nope.

My next move was putting it down – to my basket. You could say that I bought this simply because of the design or the mention of bunnies. True. I totally bought into the message there, and I happen to have a bunny.

But shouldn’t a good design be able to communicate with its viewers like this – eye catching, straight to the point, and making you laugh? Unfortunately we don’t see this a lot in most food packaging. A lot of times the products simply tell you how good they are with a bunch of facts, but they don’t communicate to you at all.

Sometimes I love going to Whole Foods, not because I do my regularly grocery shopping there (I wish I can!), but simply because I can get eye candies and inspiration by just browsing through the items on the racks. I know we can’t judge things by their appearance, but it doesn’t hurt to appreciate good designs that surround you. And it doesn’t hurt to eat fancy, organic carrots once in a while, does it?

Wallpaper’s October issue has a cover that you can peel off and “undress” the male model. How brilliant is that!? I believe this edition was only available to subscribers.

Chanel’s head designer Karl Lagerfeld shot the cover as well as the feature spreads in this issue. In some of the shots, the male model has some very feminine postures as if he’s portraying a woman.

Interesting.

常常去買 groceries 的人應該會常常注意到架上 method 的產品。沒錯, 它們家就是很搶眼!

這一罐 bathroom scrub 最近才購入, 我不得不對它的設計加以讚賞: 除了好用外, 瓶子上的 U 字型是拿來收納菜瓜布的!! How brilliant is that!! 之前都將菜瓜布塞在馬桶後方的水管凹處, 不時會掉到地上。現在有了這瓶 method, 一體兩用讓清潔浴室更有 style!

method 的產品是比其它家貴了一點點沒錯, 但是有特價時我一定會選 method。況且, 對愛護地球的產品, 多花 1, 2 塊也值得。重點是, method 讓打掃家裡也可以很黑皮!!
