Shakespeare & Company is a English-language bookstore located in the Fifth Arrondissement in Left Bank. The bookstore is very old, but very classic. The shelves are crammed with books from the floor to the ceiling. Ah! The smell of old books!

The narrow, squeaky stairs led us to the reading library on the second floor, where there was a group of students reading out the books in their hands. With a cozy place like this to hang out with friends and just read, who needs a big box bookstore like Chapters and Borders?

This place felt more like a library than a store. I thought the literary energy in there was amazing.

Did you buy a book from there? Apparently they stamp it so you’ll forever remember you bought your book from Paris

No I didn’t. Now that I know about this, I’m going to do that next time I visit Paris!
